When it comes to social media, there are three main players: Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Facebook is typically the most popular platform of choice, although all three platforms have their advantages. In this post, we'll take a look at which social media websites is the most popular.

Facebook is by far the most popular social network with over 2 billion monthly active users (MAUs). It's also still growing rapidly—in fact it's currently adding about 1 million new MAUs every day! However, many people still prefer other networks such as Twitter or Instagram because they offer more features than Facebook does; for example you can share content from your phone directly onto your profile page without needing an app installed on each device that you want access too!

Let's start with the basics. Facebook is currently the most popular social network in the world.

There are 1.79 billion monthly active users on Facebook (Statista) as of January 2017. By comparison, Twitter is ranked third with 328 million monthly active users and Google+ is ranked fourth with 300 million monthly active users. The popularity of these sites differs by country. For example, in China, Qzone is the most popular social media websites, beating out both Facebook and WeChat in terms of monthly unique visitors (Statista). On the other hand, Google+ appears to be more popular than Twitter in several countries including Russia and India (Statista). However, in the United States, Facebook and Twitter are still more popular than Google+.

Facebook has the most users and is also more popular than Twitter in some countries. But what can you do with all those people?

  • Use Facebook for personal use: You can share photos, videos and status updates with friends and family members. You can also send messages to other users on your list of contacts (Facebook calls these “friends”). These messages are visible only to those who have been added as friends by either yourself or someone else.

  • Use Google+ as a place for professional networking: If you have an account on both platforms, we recommend using Google+ so that it has access to more information about you—including things like where you work or live—than does Facebook alone because this will make it easier for potential employers or clients find out more about their options before making decisions about hiring them based solely off their own skillset(s).

Aside from being more popular than its competitors, how else does Facebook compare?

A recent study found that Facebook users tend to be older than those who use other social networks. This same study also found that Facebook users tend to be richer and better educated than their peers on other social networks (Digitaltrends).

A recent study found that Facebook users tend to be older than those who use other social media marketing platforms. This same study also found that Facebook users tend to be richer and better educated than their peers on other social networks (Digitaltrends).

According to data from Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, people aged 65 and older account for about 20% of all internet users in the United States today; however, this age group only makes up 12% of the adult population overall—a difference made up by younger adults who are not yet members of this age group but will likely join them soon enough. In addition:

  • Users between 18-29 years old make up 11% while those 30-44 years old make up 9%;

  • And finally: * The youngest segment (age 13-17) accounts for only 4%.

Conclusion

Looking at the data, it's clear that Facebook is the most popular social media platform. However, each of these sites has their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, Twitter is great for interacting with celebrities or politicians because of its quick-fire nature but Google+ lets users share images more easily than any other network. This means that there's no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to which platform you should use--it all depends on what kind of content you want to share!
